About the Book

The book is a collection of some articles the author wrote on the politics and economics of crude oil revenue and other topical national issues in Nigeria between April 2002 and July 2005 during his assignment in the United States. Most of the articles were posted on some Nigerian websites and some were published in Nigerian newspapers. The bulk of the articles book focus primarily on the political economy of the crude oil industry in Nigeria, particularly on the use and allocation of oil revenue and related issues. The articles are clustered into seven parts: the first five parts are on oil industry while last two parts are on governance and other regional and national issues. To provide background information, the appendix provides some basic information on Nigeria and the oil industry and some statistics on oil production, prices and revenue.

About the Author

Dr. Emmanuel O. Ojameruaye is a loaned executive (from Shell International) with the International Foundation for Education and Self-Help (IFESH), a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Phoenix, Arizona, USA, where he has been working as a Senior Program Specialist since January 2002. Prior to this assignment, he was Head, Community Development Department (Western Division), The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria; National Consultant Economist/Statistician for National Data Bank Project at the Federal Ministry of Budget and Planning, Lagos, Nigeria; Lecturer in Economics and Statistics, University of Benin, Benin City; and National Secretary of Nigerian Economic Society. He has co-authored two books, A First Course in Econometrics and A Second Course in Econometrics and has contributed chapters in three books and published several articles in academic journals
