About the Author
Alvin Milton Westcott was born in Mount Kisco, N.Y. and attended Elementary School there until 1941 when he moved to Rome, N.Y. and graduated from Rome Free Academy. His collegiate training was obtained at SUNY Oneonta. His graduate work was accomplished at Columbia University, SUNY New Paltz and Syracuse University as a graduate fellow. His teaching career began at Mount Kisco Elementary School that he had attended as a student Next he moved on to teach for a year at the Quaker Ridge School in Scarsdale, N.Y.A graduate fellowship in the Education Dept. then brought him to Syracuse University for advanced graduate study; This degree acquisition led to his appointment as a professor in the Education Dept. of SUNY Oswego. He spent the next thirty seven years teaching and writing in that role. Now as an emeritus professor he spends his time reading avidly and creating special construction projects such as building a miniature castle in Sterling, N. Y. Swiss Village, a group of Swiss style rental units as well as a ginger bread house in the Town of Oswego. In addition professor Westcott greatly enjoys his children and grandchildren along with painting, writing, playing the piano, walking, and the company of three cats.
