About the Book

OPENING YOUR HEART CARDIAC BYPASS SURGERY AS A SPIRITUAL JOURNEY OPENING YOUR HEART is the story of one woman’s journey into and through the severe trauma of Coronary Artery Bypass Graft. It begins with the sudden and shocking diagnosis of blocked arteries. It moves through the surgery and the recovery process, and arrives at a place of profound gratitude for a “second chance” of living. Glick-Rieman says: I started writing the book to integrate the enormity of the shock of the surgery into my consciousness. Later, I wrote to keep myself from falling into the deep depression and despair that I had heard about and witnessed in others who had gone through the same procedure. During recovery, I could find all sorts of books about heart surgery, but none that spoke to the needs of my wounded soul. This book is given as a gift to all those who have undergone severe trauma of any kind.
