About the Book

My poetry is about place, especially Wisconsin where I grew up and California where I've spent most of my life; about travel, primarily in China; about loss, the unavoidable. Other poems are my impressions of life's tiny moments. Also, I do hope that, if the reader finds no big laughs herein, there will be a smile or two.

About the Author

Grace Hawes was born in Cumberland, Wisconsin, lived for many years in California, and now, with her husband Ernest ZumBrunnen, divides her time between Portland, Oregon and Capitola, California. She works part-time at the Hoover Institution, Stanford University.
