About the Book

This book was born when a group of UNH Foundation emeriti directors, at Valerie England’s initiative, set out to tell the story of the foundation and commemorate its first 20 years. They spent more than two years—and hundreds of hours—gathering, verifying, organizing, and drafting material in support of the project. Their dedication reflects their commitment to the foundation itself—to the difference it has made, and will continue to make, in the education and achievements of UNH students

About the Author

Award-winning writer Suki Casanave has climbed trees, boarded boats, and visited the White House in pursuit of good stories. She has written about America’s love affair with the lawn, citizens fighting sprawl, life with a disabled child, and the technology of ocean mapping. Her work has appeared in Smithsonian, Family Circle, Ladies’ Home Journal, the Washington Post, Attaché, Yankee, Architectural Record, the Christian Science Monitor, and the Los Angeles Times. She is the author of Natural Wonders of New Hampshire (NTC Publishing). And she wrote the narrative for a four-part “great trains, great chefs” travel series that aired nationwide on PBS. Along with her freelance writing, she is an associate editor at the University of New Hampshire Magazine. A member of the American Society of Journalists and Authors, Casanave writes from her home on the seacoast of New Hampshire.
