About the Author

Colleen was born on the West side of Chicago. She attended St. Mel’s Catholic School for kindergarten. It is out of her kindergarten experience that her story “The Big Scary Day” was written. At five she moved to the suburbs of Villa Park, Illinois. It is here that she spent her childhood growing up. At this point she attended public school. She was most active her high school days as a cheerleader and Sliver key Club (a community effort of helping others). Pep Club developed leadership skills. Later, married and raised a family of three. Her children are now adults with successful lives. She resides in the suburb of Wheaton Illinois. Colleen received her Bachelor Degree from National Louis University in Wheaton, Illinois in the year 2000. She had a career In Education with Special Education and holds a Substitute Teacher Certificate. She believes that travel can be one of the best teachers and has traveled extensively to places such as Israel/Egypt, Hawaii, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, Mexico and soon to travel to Ireland. I have had two poems published with The International Library of Poetry as a distinguished member.
