About the Book
This collection of poetry embraces the ideals of Keats, Dickinson and Agelou. These original works by Tommy Harrel have been written over two decades and now are being shared with the literary community. The goal of this book is to create effective advocates for the creative writing process. This text will help people develop a deep understanding of how the process of creative writing can help lead to healthy self actualization. Poems from a Blue Tin Box proves that documenting ones thoughts through the creative writing process can serve as a healthy review to come to terms with those thoughts. Tommy Harrell hopes that everything arising from our individual and collective spirit whether expressed in poetry, prose, action and lyric can be celebrated in a way that revives the soul. Literature and poetry can be intertwined to assist with the revival of our nations, our liberation and our sense of self. In Volume I of this published anthology, the poems are a true summoning of his memories, dreams, reflections and emotions. With great energy and the sense that there is so much to be said about ones journey, Tommy has corralled these poetic pieces into epic meter with a lyrical, refined quality. This mind spring of poetic ambition that has welled from within is his introduction to the literary World.
