About the Book

Marcie's Daffodil addresses the cycle of birth and life, loss and renewal, through the eyes of a young girl who plants bulbs in the Autumn and eagerly awaits daffodil blooms in the Spring. This is a children's book that presents a family's experience of miscarriage - the loss of a sibling as well as of a son or daughter -in such a deft and gentle manner. The accompanying illustrations are rendered lovingly and allow pre-school children to follow the story - its depth, love and hope - with ease.

About the Author

Autumn Stanley started telling stories as a child—nightly bed-time stories for her sister. Her fi rst written stories were for her own children—some read on radio, and two published by small presses. Later she wrote stories for her grandchildren— and hopes to publish more of them. She has published an asparagus cookbook, a book on women inventors, and a biography called Raising More Hell and Fewer Dahlias. She has taught at college level, and has worked as an editor. Today she is busy with photography and keeping up with four children, eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Ji Young Lee is a painter and illustrator. She was trained in traditional representation at the Atelier of Classical Realism in Oakland, California. Lee subsequently developed a unique style incorporating the Chinese Brush Painting technique that she learned growing up in Seoul, Korea.
