About the Book

This is a collection of verse in various styles and moods, and is illustrated by paintings and drawings by the author The verses are the author’s reflections on events in his life of 81 years, from the nostalgia of youth in rural Wisconsin and along Lake Michigan’s western shore in the l930’s, his army service in the occupation of Japan in 1946-7, his recollections of Wisconsin’s dairy farms and their barns, his fascination with gardening, his settlement in Arizona in 1971 and his love of naughty limericks and goofy rhymes in his old age.

About the Author

H. Russell Nelson, also known as Herbert R. Nelson, H.R. Nelson, Herb, Herbie, or “Hey You!” is a retired lawyer, having served as house counsel for The Great Northern Railway Company and The Greyhound Corporation, and as a private practitioner, for over 45 years. He has practiced law in Arizona, Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin. He was born in Racine, Wisconsin and now lives in Phoenix, Arizona with his wife, Marjorie. His 3 children also live in the Phoenix area.
