About the Author
Born in Tallahassee Florida April 25, 1970, raised in South Bronx New York in 1973 and starting out life as what they called “A Latch Key Kid” Lamar “DJ 20/20” Gardner has endured many trials and tribulations, from being molested at a young age by his baby sitter’s, death of his mother, treated unfairly by his aunt after his mom’s passing, alcoholism, drug addiction, felony and misdemeanor offenses, to becoming a ladies’ man and homelessness. Lamar Gardner still managed to weave his way through all the hardships, take control of his broken life and become an unsung legend in the entertainment world. Lamar refused to let his disadvantages, short comings and juvenile attributes be his downfall in life. The book your about to read is about reinventing one’s self, it’s about the rises and falls of a normal South Bronx man, who was given the chance to live five lifestyles in one lifetime, in the end, proving the fact that if a person wants to really change and become successful, it’s never too late. Lamar always dreamed about being in the music business, working with likes of: the legendary DJ Grandmaster Flash, DJ Kid Capri, DJ Putt and Kool Herc, just to name a few but his biggest ambition was for his mother, to be somebody and when she passed away it crippled and changed his life style. Mrs. Clementine Johnson was that brick that kept him in check and when that brick was removed all hell broke loose, as you read you will see his adventures and how Jail time, Mental breakdowns and Religion helped this man get back on track and rebuild the ambition once expected of him by his mother, this book is about a man’s Rite Of Passage.
