About the Book
Set in City Park in New Orleans, this engaging story is sure to give you a glimpse of this charming place through Crawford’s friends and stories.
Crawford knew he would eventually get eaten until his friend Myrtle the Turtle came to the rescue. He brought him back to his home in City Park. Once they arrived in City Park, one by one, Myrtle introduced Crawford to all of his friends, who told him what they liked about New Orleans.
There’s the colorful parrot Jazzy who loved flying over the Superdome when Mardi Gras came; the friendly snake Sammy who loved living in City Park because there’s always food; Freddy the Frog who loved the festivals and events; Ralph the Rat who loved collecting and storing food; and Nathan the Nutria who loved going to the Irish-Italian parade.
Crawford was happy to have a second chance; he never wanted to live the life he had before Myrtle rescued him.
Join him as he enjoys it all in the pages of this artistically illustrated picture book.
About the Author
My name is Evelyn Vinet. I have a degree in Elementary Education, and taught 2nd and 3rd graders for 20+ years. I retired at age 47 and in doing so, I realized that I still wanted to make a difference in children's lives. I was born and raised in Harvey, La., which is a smaller city close to New Orleans. I was inspired to write this book because I wanted to share something "Fun" for children to read. This book is followed by two others, which get even more adventurous.
