About the Author

An orphan at age five, lived with different relatives and started to earn a living as a shoeshine boy and a flower vendor in the Philippines. • Took Electronics Engineering in the Philippines, and was an electronics instructor. • Awarded a medal by then President Marcos of the Philippines for his Rice Seedling Transplanter invention. • Philippine National Science Competition awardee in Physics. • Owen and his wife Immigrated to the U.S. in 1972. • He and his wife, Ruth Diaz, MD, have been married for 41 years. They have three children, a son who is a Computer animator in New York city, a feature film producer daughter in California, and another son who is a medical doctor & Major in the U.S. Air Force who has served in Iraq and Afghanistan three times and will be promoted in September to Lieutenant Colonel for his honorable achievements. • Holds an Economics degree from Eastern Michigan University. • CFP Licensee from the College of Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado. • Former Financial Securities Broker and Financial Planner. • Recognized inventor and entrepreneur, holds a U.S. invention Patent used by various Fortune 500 companies. • Former Urgent Care Clinic Administrator. • Former president of various Filipino-American organizations. • Former Mayor of the city of Milan, Michigan, turned a budget deficit into a budget surplus and reduced property tax during his two-term tenure. • Currently the Medical Office Manager of his wife’s practice. Former S.E. Region Director for the Michigan State Medical Society Alliance. • Current President of St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Medical Auxiliary. • Acknowledged by President Barack Obama for his proposal to the Congress Committee on Health Care on how to save approximately 30 billion dollars in Medicare cost without reducing medical services to U.S. Medicare beneficiaries. • Owns a business that develops and market his inventions. • Mayor Owen Diaz demonstrated sincere interest in his community by personally sponsoring events that reached out to citizens in all stages of life.
