About the Book

It was a rainy day, just as Samantha had hoped for. She woke up to the sound of raindrops on her bedroom window. She jumped out of bed, ran down the stairs, through the kitchen, across the full length of the family room, and to the back doors, squishing her little nose against the glass. She stood there waiting for the rain to stop. A morning rain only meant one thing to Samantha—a day of searching for rain gnomes.

About the Author

Kelly A. Collin may be new to the world of writing, but she has never been short on imagination, creativity, or the art of dreaming. “Samantha’s Backyard” brings Kelly’s imagination and creativity to life in the pages of her book by including many of her childhood friends as characters in the book. There are many of Kelly’s special memories included throughout the story; from before Kindergarten, all the way to the present. Kelly learned early on that if you didn’t ask a question, you’d never know the answer. So she lived by the motto, “It never hurts to ask”. This motto has provided her with many unique opportunities; such as getting the lead in 4th grade production of Alice In Wonderland, taking flight in a P51 Mustang, receiving her media credentials for the 2009 Reno Air Races, getting published in a magazine, and many more life-changing moments. It has been a dream of Kelly’s to write this story and share it with others. She talked about it for years, even shared her ideas with others, but what made her finish the book was a promise she made to both of her parents. She lost both of her parents and knew it was time to keep her promise.
