About the Book

Our Founding Fathers believed that education would help unify our nation in values, opportunity, and beliefs. Providing students the opportunities to engage in a rigorous curriculum in order to prepare them for a democratic life must be the sole purpose of education. As a nation of transient students, providing an opportunity for equal education is of utmost concern. Therefore, students need to be held accountable for the mastery of knowledge that should be consistent and rigorous. Students need to be asked engaging, thought-provoking questions on a daily basis. In order for students to critically or comparatively think on any piece of information, they need to be responsible for content that is relevant and reflects the assumptions of our democracy.

Josh James is currently working with REFINED partners on innovative school development.
