About the Book

“Encouragement for Your Journey From Mom and Dad” This book is a compilation of inspirational writings authored by Mrs. Lina Bernice Rivers Scotton (1918 – 2006) during the 1990s. It also contains 2 prophetic sermons preached during the mid 1980s -90s by Reverend H. Franklin Scotton (1914 – 2006), her devoted husband of 71 years. Mrs. Scotton’s works reveal her deep love and faith in God, her love of family, and her observations of current events during that time. Reverend Scotton pastored in Church of God of Prophecy in North Carolina for over 40 years and his messages are still powerful and timely today. Gail Scotton Baylor, Esq. compiled these works.

About the Author

Born in High Point, North Carolina, Gail Scotton Baylor, Esq., is the eighth of nine children of Reverend H. Franklin and Mrs. Lina Scotton, who raised their family there and later in Trinity, North Carolina. In 1977 and 1980, Gail received degrees in journalism and law, respectively, from Howard University’s School of Communications and Howard Law School, Washington, D.C. Currently, Gail owns a law practice in Stone Mountain, Georgia. Her beloved parents greatly influenced her life spiritually and academic ally. Gail is honored to present some of their works in their memory. She and her husband, Orlando, have one son, Matthew Franklin.
