About the Book

A Mother’s Fight tells the story of the tests trials and tribulations of a mother’s fight against cancer. Two weeks after the death of her husband, my mother never had the chance to mourn his death, because she was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. The diagnosis of Breast Cancer began her five year battle with a disease that changed her life and all of our family’s life as well. My mother had the type of breast cancer that did not have a root to it, therefore allowing it to come back at any time and travelling to different areas of the body. During the years of 2007 through 2012 my mother had cancer in the breast, lung, and brain. Living in a small town with not much of a health care system, we were brought out of our comfort zone. In order for my mother to be cured and get the health care she needed, we had to travel a great distance, my entire family had to help, and we had to depend on God and the people He brought into our lives. My family and especially my mother went through a storm in dealing with the little c word called cancer, however it taught us to trust God, pray, lean and depend not in our understanding but in the understanding and wisdom of God. The night before my mother had brain surgery, she heard the words to a song in her ear singing He won’t fail thee. God did not fail my mother in her fight against cancer, and that lets me know He will never fail any of His children.

About the Author

Minister Kathy Pierce Thompson is the daughter of the late Floyd and Rosella Pierce, the third child of five children. I am the wife of the late James D. Thompson, and the mother of three beautiful children, Precious, Dexter, and Samuel. I am a graduate of the 1989 class of Heidelberg High School, furthered my education at Southeastern Baptist College in Laurel, MS. I am an Associate Minister at the For The Love Of God Church in Heidelberg, MS where I attend faithfully. One of my hobbies is writing plays so that the children can perform them in programs at Church. Working with children at Church and in the community is one of my greatest joys. Being a dedicated mother to my three children is a job I cherish. Like so many other mothers, my children mean the world to me, and it is my goal to make sure they are raised and taken care of in the best possible way. That is why they were introduced to God at an early age, because He would be the best at supplying their every need and their greatest mentor. My greatest and most personal accomplishment and achievement was accepting Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior on August 2, 1998. I accepted my call into the Ministry and preached my first sermon June 18, 2006. Since accepting Jesus into my life, my life has changed for the greater good and now purpose is to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ so that others may accept Him into their lives.
