Julian K. Van Dyke has authored and illustrated The Music We Call Jazz, a delightful story of a young boy who happens one day to listen to a form of music he’d never heard before, jazz—explained in a fun and pictorial way with his knowledgeable and lovable grandfather. Mimi and Leo shows the daily antics of a pair of dogs when their owner is away. Julian, who is also a noted painter, lives in Lansing, Michigan, where he puts just as much inspiration and fun in his canvases as he does in his books.
