About the Book

Party of Ten in San Diego is about ten friends who have transferred residences due to school and job considerations. Although they now live far apart from each other, they took the time to fellowship and celebrate. At the end of the first five statements or pages, repetitive questions are asked for critical thinking to give time for a child to think and process his or her thoughts. It also introduces the three ways of transportation: by land, by air, and by water.

About the Author

Vina Martinez-Tiglao worked in a head-start state preschool in the county of Los Angeles, California, as a teacher and site supervisor for thirteen years. After which, she was promoted as education training coordinator or program director, a job she held for sixteen years before the company relinquished its funding. She also managed to volunteer her time in the Reading Is Fundamental program, where she conducted motivational workshops for parents. As a teacher and site supervisor, education training coordinator or program director, and RIF volunteer, she learned the value of having a numerous variety of materials accessible to the children in the classrooms in order to enhance the children’s social-emotional development; cognitive development, which includes math, language, and literacy development; and physical and personal development. Through her twenty-nine years of experience, she saw the importance of reading to young children and the excitement of children owning their own books. With books visible at home, parents became motivated to read to their children, and children became book lovers. However, Vina found it challenging when she ordered books; there was a limited number of multicultural books, particularly in English-Tagalog. She wondered if she can write one.
