About the Author
Mary Wright is a music teacher for over five decades. Mary Wright constantly empathized with her students as they struggled with the music graph, the grand staff, while coping with the sensory issues of vision-and-hand coordination.
As a special education specialist and speech therapist trained in neurological development, Mary realized students would progress faster if the physical and cognitive challenges were separated and reduced.
The result of her research produced the Anyone Can Play Piano series, an entertaining compilation of lessons and songs. Motivation is everything in acquiring new skills, so only delightful songs were selected for study, with accompanying fun clip art.
The Anyone Can Play Piano series uses alphabet letters and symbols to teach all the elements of traditional notation, while muscle memory and comprehension are developed through five levels of instruction in four books.
After the method is learned, students may continue to play in ACCP books or move on to traditional note reading through the ACCP transition to traditional notation series.
The goal of the Anyone Can Play method is to bring the joy of music production and appreciation to those of any age who wish to receive it. In this regard, Mary is writing books in ACPP notation for the ukulele, guitar, and violin.
A bonus in the ACCP program is that parents and teachers find the educational songs enhance youth learning with fun while requiring only minimal technical skills on the presenter’s part.
