“Oh no… oh no, this is bad…” a woman murmured as she knelt beside me. I looked over and noticed that it was Professor Bennett that had come in when I screamed. A tear ran down the side of her face as she grabbed my hands and pulled me to my feet and I looked back at the girl before something caught my eye. Standing in the far corner of the bathroom was a lone figure, with eyes that I recognised immediately. Wearing the same black pants, blue tunic and heavy travel cloak she always wore, Zoey just stared at me with her hands in her pockets. I could see the rest of her features this time and her long brown hair was hanging in knots around her face. Her skin was pale as she just looked between me and the dead girl and looked very sad. She shook her head before suddenly disappearing before my eyes, not saying anything this time. Professor Bennett pulled me away from the bathroom then and left me standing near Roni, who was looking over me with a worried look. Astyn ran to my side when he saw me and grabbed my shoulders. Looking deep into my eyes, he saw something was wrong. “Imani… what is it? What’s wrong?” He asked but I watched silently as Professor Bennett pulled Professor Chase away from a group of students. Her easy smile turned to pure shock as Professor Bennett explained what happened and Professor Chase nodded before she took off down the street, running straight for the Watch House. “There was a girl… she… she’s…” I spoke quietly to him but I just couldn’t finish my sentence. I shook my head, trying to get rid of the tears that sprung to my eyes and clouded my vision. I rested my head against Astyn’s shoulder and he wrapped his arms around me protectively as he whispered something in my ear. “Was she from the school? Did you know her?” He asked softly buy I just shook my head, not trusting my voice enough to speak.

With final exams creeping up quickly, Imani Shae and friends find themselves using all their free time to study. However, at the park in town, on a day that was supposed to be relaxing, Imani stumbled upon the body of a local girl—dead. That is when things turn from bad to worse. She tries hard to forget what she saw, but she is still haunted by a ghost who died twenty years before, the ghost of Zoey Bishop. Zoey follows Imani, leaving nothing but cryptic messages and confusion in her wake. Imani is left to decode them before the man who's killing teenage girls strikes again. The man is still on the hunt and won't stop until he has gotten what he's after, but is it too late for Imani when someone really close to her becomes this guy's next target? Will she be able to stop the killer and save his target before her heart gets broken?
About the Author
Hi, I'm Nika Kaitlyn, only eighteen years old, with my passion for creative writing being a relatively recent one. Probably my greatest claim to fame was taking out first place in a local writing competition—okay, not a Nobel Prize for literature, but I was pretty excited nevertheless. At the moment, I spend whatever free time I have writing or with my head stuck in the latest book that catches my eye. Reading has always been a love of mine. I was inspired to start writing by one of my high school English teachers, and this book is my first solid idea, an idea that expands upon a short story I wrote. Currently I live in Southeast Queensland and intend studying a bachelor of arts degree at university in the coming years. Everything in my world may be color-coded and strangely organized, but I hope you enjoy reading my stories as much as I've loved writing them!
