About the Book

The inspiration for these writings came from the darkest time in my life. I was thirty-five years old. Seven years into a good career. Ten years into a relationship, engaged to the love of my life, my soul mate. Eight years into an illness, being diagnosed type 1 diabetic. In a matter of one month, my company closed its doors two weeks before Christmas. My fiancée moved out the Saturday before Christmas. My medical insurance cancelled on midnight, New Year’s Eve. I hit rock bottom. I gave up. Couldn’t eat and couldn’t sleep. I started a new job on December 28, but by January 4, I was hospitalized for my diabetes. I lost forty-five pounds in two weeks. The depression, the stress, and the heartbreak all came crashing down upon me. I was in ICU for two nights, in the hospital for four nights total. While in that bed, I wrote a poem. Not sure why. No one told me to. Then I wrote another. Just passing time, reliving my time with her. When I returned to work the next week, I found myself writing more poems. Three weeks, one hundred poems! She was the inspiration for my writing. Love, hate, sadness, and joy, it’s all there. The writing kept my emotions and my health at bay. She was and will always be my inspiration.

About the Author

I was born on the bayous of South Louisiana in March 1979. I spent my childhood in the woods and on the baseball diamond. I moved to South Florida in second grade, only to move back home by eighth grade. I graduated high school in 1997, playing sports and chasing girls my entire teenage life. I never excelled in English or reading classes, so writing is new to me. In my adult, life I’ve moved around a little. I’ve had three jobs in my life, mostly professional driving, having acquired my CDL when I was twenty-six. I’ve been in two long relationships, giving me two great sons. I was diagnosed type 1 diabetic eight years ago and find every day to be a struggle. I love to fish and collect firearms. I play video games way too much, and now I write regularly. I’ve had a pretty incredible life so far, and I hope you enjoy the writings I hold close to my heart.
