About the Book

Happenstance is a kind of charged, down-and-out, coming-of-age saga that follows a young woman, Hannah, as she drifts through life. Running off with a group of traveling fair workers when she’s eighteen, and fueled by adrenaline, drugs, and sometimes tense, difficult relationships, Hannah’s story is both gritty and honest. Perpetually on the road and eventually cast into a romantic relationship with an older man, John, the story unfolds amidst family drama, financial hardships, and—eventually—the challenges of brining a new child into the world. While the story doesn’t end with roses and white picket fences, readers should find Hannah’s story to be both authentic and sincere, with the actual struggles of a real, tough life unfolding before them through the trials of love, understanding and a fight with mental illness.

About the Author

By outward appearances, I am the quintessential responsible adult. Mother of two good kids, been with my husband for sixteen years. I work a full-time job, go to school, and homeschool one of my sons. There is little time for anything else. The thing is appearances can be deceiving. At one point, and occasionally since, I was a wild child. I would seek excitement and adventure any way I could find it. My book gives a short portion of my life dedicated to my younger self.
