About the Book

This book is filled with stories about ordinary everyday life. One story is “Does Butter Grow on Trees?” It just seemed to me that most of our younger generation might just think that. I ended the story with being thankful that we are blessed with butter in the store without us having to do anything but pay for it, so maybe it does grow on trees! You just need to read that story, it will take you back to churns, cream, and milking cows. Some of the stories are funny. Some are sad; they brought tears to my eyes as I wrote them. A sad story shares the pain and sorrow that my good friend endured as she lost her young daughter to cancer. It moves from just surviving to being comforted; this is a must read. I get most of my funny stories from life with my sweet Bill. Just this week, I remember him getting up early. I asked why, and he said he couldn’t sleep. He continued to be quiet and seemed sad. I asked why, and he replied that the hairdresser cut his hair too short. And if that wasn’t bad enough, he did not know how we were going to get our riding lawn mower loaded to take it to the shop—all really big stuff. Well, did I ever have some words of wisdom for him. That will one day be a story. His hair will grow, and we did get the mower loaded! And there are people right around us that really have problems! This book will not be boring. It moves from sad to glad; it moves from heartbreak to hope. I will take you on trips of understanding and bring you back smarter than when you left. It’s a good book full of truth that will reflect God’s love right into your very soul!

About the Author

I was a farm girl, I married a farmer. I am still married to my first husband, Bill. We are parents to Christy, Melody, and Steve, who are all grown and getting to middle age. Bill and I live in a small town of three thousand wonderful people, Floydada, Texas! After our children were all in school, I went back to complete my education. I worked as a registered nurse for twenty-five years. I have had a diverse life. I know how to hoe cotton, how to play the piano, how to teach, how to give injections, how to birth babies, and how to start IVs. I have taught childbirth classes, I have delivered a baby or two, and I have worked on our EMS team and been an instructor for that. I have taught Sunday school in my church for years. I am presently teaching a ladies’ class. I have formed and directed three ladies’ ensembles, who sang at various events and churches. I began my writing career three years ago. It was quite by accident. I sent out a blog to everyone on my e-mail list with just the message, “Just checking in.” I wanted to know if my friends had received my message—I had just changed my e-mail address due to being hacked. The next day, I sent out another message, “Just checking in,” but I added an inspirational thought—thus my writing career was launched. I wrote a blog every day for three years. It went to a hundred people on my e-mail list, and some forwarded it to friends and family. I had others that asked to be added. At a time in my life when I was between ministries, my brother suggested that I put the blogs in the form of a book. I started that and found I had enough material for two books already written. So it took a lot of touching up and eliminating some blogs, but I now have two books published and on the market. I call my writings the Just Checking In Series. Book number 1 is There You Have It, and book number 2 is That’s the Way It Is. This book is book number 3, That’s How It Seems. It’s presently at the publishers, and I hope it will be out soon. I am presently working on my fourth book, That’s What I’m Talking About.
