About the Author

Born in Calgary, Alberta, and raised in the Greater Toronto Area, Shivi Darubra is a young and thriving advocate of children's mental health. She graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor's of Arts degree in Political Science and pursued her graduate studies in public administration from Seneca College. With her academic knowledge in public health policy and a passionate interest in mental health, Shivi aims to instill the importance of early childhood education on mental health to parents, children, and educators. "The Little Blue Elephant" project is aimed to bring public awareness to our young readers and educators on the importance of practicing healthy mental health and development within the elementary school system. The main objective of this project is to help reduce the stigma surrounding mental health while also promoting healthy conversations between parents, teachers, and children on its significance. Elephants; ( Shivi's favorite animal) signify happiness, longevity, and wisdom–all of the core qualities for a healthy mind. Her goal is to have Ellie and her friends take readers on an inspiring and educational journey of acceptance and love and to show how mental health affects each and every one of us.
