The Travels and Experiences of a Military Wife as Told in Letters to Her Granddaughter and Other Stories

About the Book

This book was written to share the adventures and experiences that we encountered in our military travels. I was raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and at the age of seventeen, moved to San Diego, California. We lived in San Diego, California; Sherman, Texas; Rantoul, Illinois; Selma, Alabama; Goldsboro, North Carolina; Bangkok, Thailand; Rome; New York; Anchorage, Alaska; and now Greer, South Carolina. These stories are true experiences while we were moving around the country and overseas. We have traveled across the country a total of ten times, all by automobile. The first and most important thing that I did when we moved into a new area was to find a church. In some cases, there was only one Southern Baptist Church to choose from. In some places, we would ask neighbors about churches in the area and attend there. We would all work to put away our household goods so we could attend church on the first Sunday possible.

About the Author

I have always enjoyed writing letters and stories. I have written and submitted several stories to magazines and small publications. In retrospect, I should have taken journalism in high school and college. Instead I chose to major in accounting and business. I raised four children, have eleven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. They live all over the United States and have allowed me to travel to see them. I have also traveled with my husband, who was in the military. In addition to this travel, I have been to Israel, Italy (twice), France (twice), and Switzerland. I have written two articles that have been published in The Baptist Courier in Greenville, South Carolina. I also wrote various articles for a church newspaper when we lived in Anchorage, Alaska.
