Waiting for Daylight

About the Book

The story is of Dorcas and Orville and their life in a coal camp in the late 1940s. Orville is killed in a roof fall, and Dorcas is left to struggle with rearing her two tiny children in a hostile environment. There are threats on all sides that she must face and conquer if she is to survive.

About the Author

K. Bruce Florence grew up in coal-mining country in Harlan County, Kentucky. She is the mother of two grown daughters and has four grandchildren. Her professional life has been in education, and writing has been a lifelong passion. She currently lives in Cynthiana, Kentucky, writes for the Cynthiana Democrat, and is an occasional radio host. She is currently completing a novel about the Harlan County mine wars.
