About the Book

Branch is the story of an unnoticed Christmas tree because of his size. Branch spends one whole Christmas season unchosen. After a year of learning how to nourish his body as suggested by his farmer, he grows to be one of the fullest, most beautiful trees in the farm that was finally chosen during the next Christmas season. The story of Branch teaches children about hard work, dedication, and motivation, and that anything is obtainable if they set their minds to it. Children will also enjoy reading a story that possibly shares one of their own family traditions during the holidays, choosing their favorite Christmas tree!

About the Author

Lindsay is from Gardner, Louisiana where she grew up with her father, mother, and brother. Being a Louisiana native, she grew up around several Christmas tree farms, including one about an hour from her home, Grant Christmas Tree Farm. Grant is also a special name to Lindsay because it is the maiden name of her mother, Marilyn, the co-author of this book. One of her favorite childhood memories was going to the tree farm with her family to mark their annual tree before Thanksgiving each year and returning to pick it up after Thanksgiving, only to have it be the magical centerpiece of their living room where family Christmases were celebrated each year. Lindsay aspired to be a children’s book writer since she was a child. She loves children and has been working with children since she was 13, babysitting and teaching Sunday school. She is currently an 8th grade English teacher at Tioga Junior High. She was an elementary teacher for six years and taught Special Education. She graduated from Louisiana College in Pineville, Louisiana with her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and Special Education and from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana with a master’s degree in Special Education (Mild/Moderate). She also has her middle school English Language Arts degree in regular education. Lindsay currently lives in Forest Hill, Louisiana with her two children, Marly Anne (6) and Mason (5). She has written several other children’s books that she will be having published. She will continue to write even more books and enjoys other hobbies with her family and friends including playing the guitar, going to the movies, traveling, spending time her children and fiancé, Tate, riding bikes, swimming, and enjoying being outside.
