The days, weeks and months after the birth were critical: weekly outpatient examination was now twice and sometimes three times a week. My frail upper body barely able to sustain my lower body; I was weak; my joints constantly aching, surely God must have reason why things are like this! Despite the family support, I wanted my independence. My constant visitation and sickly episodes weighted heavily on the family and the marriage. My attention absorbed on surviving, looking after the children, and trying to manage the household.
Months turned to years and returning to my previous employment at the day care Centre, I had to challenge myself into ‘normality’ which evoked many emotions and surmountable struggle of joggling work, school runs and homelife. Life’s normality evoked weekly hospitalization, in fact, within two or three days of being discharged, I was back in hospital again. My debilitated immune system could not cope with the stereotypical norm of life; the challenges dissolved the marriage; feeling wretched, forlorn, dejected, nothing could salvage what was being lost; totally futile.
The world IS A BATTLE GROUND BUT God does not leave us defenseless. In Psalms chapter 19, we are reminded that Our Heavenly Father watches the rich and the poor tenderly; there is no tears shed that God does not notice. There is no smile that he does not mark! As Winston Churchill once said, “Success is not final, failure is not fatal…if you’re going through hell, keep going…it is the courage to continue that counts!” I pray that the Almighty will continue to Grant ‘us’, His Mercy, Protection and Grace as we continue to live our life journey that He has ordained to each of us.
The mammoth task ahead of me can only be achieved with your generosity and support. The project aims to develop a clinic, a school and a training center that will equip both youth and adults into gaining recognized educational qualifications without the bureaucracy of examination postponement or the unjustified monetary demand. Additionally, vocational training will also be offered in ensuring that life skills are attained so individuals can sustain themselves and their families elevating the stigma of poverty.
Jeremiah 29: 11 -14 states, “You may not be able to see it yet, but I have already planned a future full of peace for you, so your life can be lived with a steady courage, because in me, you have eternal hope.”
