About the Author

Li Xiaoping was a professor at Southwest Forestry University in China before and she moved to USA in 2022. She was mainly engaged in research on forest products and wood science and technology. She had published nearly 100 academic research papers. Mainly committed to the utilization and development of biomass materials, she hope that one day the petroleum products that cause white pollution on the earth can be replaced by renewable, recyclable, and degradable biomass materials. One day she was chatting with a doctor friend and they talked about wood. That friend believes that only by not using wood and protecting the forest can we better protect the environment. As a wood expert, she suddenly felt that popularizing knowledge about wood and forests was a very important task. Because wood, like any living thing, has its own growth pattern and life cycle, if the wood is not used rationally, the wood will naturally decay and have no use or value. If the wood is used wisely, for example, if the wood is used to build a house, if the house is used for 1,000 years, the carbon dioxide stored in the wood can be stored for a thousand years, instead of returning in air when the tree decays. Therefore, she made up her mind to write a book for kids, hoping that more people would have a better understanding of forests, wood and wood utilization. Let us more effectively use forest resources rationally while protecting the environment and the earth.
