About the Book

This is the kickoff that coaches, physical education teachers, athletic directors, and sport managers need to be legally savvy when it comes to sports law with real life examples of court cases that focus on specific topics discussed within this book. Gaining a better understanding of sports law and ethics will empower coaches, teachers, and administrators to make better and more informed decisions and help guide their practices as professionals when working with students, athletics, clients, and organizations.

About the Author

Dr. Aaron Thompson is a physical education and sports management professor at Keene State College in New Hampshire in the Human Performance and Movement Science department. He completed his Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership from Southern New Hampshire University. He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with his Master of Arts in Physical Education: Sports Administration, Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sport Science, and Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management/Administration. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology and an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Columbia Southern University. Dr. Thompson started teaching and coaching in 2007, and has worked in both public and private schools grades pre-K to 12. In addition, Dr. Thompson is a USA Track & Field level 1 coach, and he is USA Lacrosse level 1 coaching certified. Dr. Thompson has collegiate coaching experience at Neosho Community College in Chanute, Kansas and at St. Andrews University in Laurinburg, North Carolina for Cross Country and Track & Field. Dr. Thompson is an avid runner and he has completed over 100 marathons and ultra-marathons. He is the race director for the Wildcat Ultramarathon in Pensacola, Florida and has previously directed the Orange Beach Ultra 50k in Alabama, along with other various running events.
