About the Book
The winter of 1953 was upon Eagle Brook. A life long drover and a young William, plagued by illness from birth, fight for survival in the harsh Australian High Country. In the town below, dreams are washed away, families are torn apart and a community is fractured. In the aftermath of tragedy, death and heroism, secrets, lies and deceit rise to the surface, exacerbating the demons of the town folk and consequently influencing generations to come. Many choose to stay to rebuild their lives. Others leave by choice and some are forced to forge life elsewhere. All options with there own unforgiving consequences. Endevouring to keep a final promise, Claus incidentally stumbles across William’s Journal, forcing him to confront his emotions of love, excitement, self acceptance, sadness and grief. Now, in a changing world, he also explores issues, of sickness, domestic violence and alcoholism that have taunted him from the beginning.
