About the Book
This book is about the sometimes diffuse and rich overlapping border between the disciplines of religion and psychology. It is hard to define where the subject matter of religion and that of psychology begin and end. Thinking of it as geography, there are inexact boundaries, and overlapping territories sometimes disputed. This book is a result of venturing to combine the rich territories of both religion and psychology. This mix results in some original ideas. Some essays are directly about the psychology of religion. Others reflect the mind-body-spirit connection. Always they are driven by what one discipline can learn from the other. Other essays are influenced by the author’s 30 year study and involvement in Clinical Hypnosis. Hypnotherapy’s use of metaphor shares a border with forms of religious language, and creates a natural bridge between the two.
