About the Author

The Black Book Poet came from a simple black notebook in which the author, Jennifer Yue, scribbled and doodled. The book had no lines so the words were lopsided, like a portrait and landscaped. There are a few which are slanted to one very famous leaning tower. Jennifer was raised in a Malaysian-Chinese family environment, much of her literary interests were lessons in the womb from English teacher mum, Rosalind, who is a voracious reader. With accountant and lawyer father, Sau Him, both parents instilled the life lessons and somewhat got shared in this very book, Everything Grey and White. Aptly her own style, Jennifer has not had formal lessons in writing her poems. But her early influences were Wordsworth, Hemingway, Lord Byron and she fell in love with Shakespeare’s silky ‘thy’ language, his tones and the daydreams it brought for this author. Thereafter, she rhymed her way to this very book. You will find greatly contrasting works yet very detailed accounts of what tugs at her heartstrings. Evident from her words, it is actually a poetic biography of a girl who is a self-professed late bloomer, with all the trappings of an eager dreamer, who is finally making her dream come true.
