About the Book

About the Author

Rina is a 10 year old girl currently attending Newport School and is in year 5. She is the oldest of the three children. She has twin brothers, Rahul and Ronit, whom she adores. Rina’s parents are nurses. Her dad is a lover of English literature and philosophy. Rina spends her time with her Dad and trying to learn his ways. Rina enjoys reading comics and children’s books. Her favourite author is Shakespeare. Rina looks at literature as the mirror of life.

My Poems is a collection of small poems exploring the elements around life. Rina’s chosen topics are well presented and adds colours to life. The book is intellectually soothing. Reading Rina’s poems will enrich life and this will benefit young children and adults. The words used to express the poems are true to wisdom and life.

At this stage of life and education, her responsibility to her family and school is very tough however she knows she will have to face challenges. This book that Rina and her dad and I have worked on will be something memorable and to be proud of. She might feel hopeless and about to give up at times but her parents strengthen her all the time, always pushing her to success and taught her to follow the path of good deeds. She believes that life is a gift from God and we have to make good use of it with all its potentials.

To Dad, Rina is a little princess full of dreams, aspirations and lofty principles of life. He has seen her courage and determination to adventure on this path of literary arts.

“I have been taught that literature helps you to phrase very powerful ideas and could actually be the solution to your tests in writing or speeches . . . Literature has led my life into an ocean full of jewels . . . Whenever I write I think about the treasures of life. I hope that many people out there would appreciate this work that my parents and I have done. This is yet my short experience on my journey to poetry and what I have learnt from it.” --Rina
