About the Book
‘Misheard’ is my story, written in the form of poetry. I cannot write about the bigger historical picture of South Africa, but I can write about my micro history. The small moments, the magic of childhood, the love of open wide spaced land, the loss and terror and pain of family. These poems are images of sisterhood, motherhood, childhood and my country. They are like punches in the solar plexus, taken straight from the nervous system and the heart. An original, forceful collection of words from the life of a woman with children, a sister and a child.
