What were they like live?

King Koncert, Memoirs of an American Rocker The 1970s combines personal details with a broad historical perspective to create a unique portrait of popular culture. The many artists that the book discusses not only represent popular rock stars, but also prominent names in blues, soul, jazz, country, pop, folk and experimental music. Also, on the fringes of the discussion are comedians and performing poets. The historical perspective anchors the book to the common experiences of music fans of the time. The personal details create an “everyman” voice that underscores that these lively descriptions come from the viewpoint of the audience.

About the Author

Tim Van Schmidt went to see his first rock concert in 1970 and since then he has been hooked on the excitement of live music. His relentless search for new and different experiences has lead him on a journey through the concert halls of America. It has also resulted in a freelance writing career that has produced thousands of articles in the Rocky Mountain region press. Since 1988, Schmidt has reviewed concerts, photographed performers, interviewed stars and reviewed their records in publications in his hometown of Fort Collins, Colorado as well as in others distributed throughout the Colorado Front Range.
