About the Author

Sylvia Brooks is a poet, essayist, and author of several short stories. Her unique sense of humor and outlook on life are illustrated in several of her poems such as "The Wise Man" and "My Question." A fan of such notables as Gwendolyn Brooks and Maya Angelou, Ms. Brooks believes that poetry is one of the basic and most sincere forms of written expression. Though adept in various forms of writing, Ms. Brooks feels that poetry flows quite naturally through her veins. Sylvia is the mother of four daughters and currently lives in Gwynn Oak, Maryland. She enjoys reading, writing, traveling, and "landscaping the sceneries of life."
