About the Book

Following the Civil War, as America pushed Westward, US soldiers discovered silver in the Wasatch Mountains. An immediate rush ensued, and Park City was born. Great fortunes were made by a lucky few (by William Randolph Hearst in particular) but by the Second World War, the mines were pretty much played out.

Today, the quaint buildings of the early mining town remain as the centerpiece of one of the great ski areas in the Western United States. This book documents Park City as it is today in pictures and text, showing the lovely mixture of old and modern in this town that hosted the 2002 Winter Olympics.
