About the Book
In this autobiographic novel, Casinda Jalita Thorton Skye tells of some difficult experiences that she had in her life. She engaged in everything from drug use and adultery to materialism and abandonment of God. The only thing that kept her going throughout the hard times was that God never abandoned her. She tells of her happy early childhood. Having been raised by loving parents, she was shocked to discover later that they were going to get a divorce. This was after the beginning of her sexual awakening in high school. She became pregnant and the father of her baby essentially abandoned her. He came to see her daughter, Kenyon, a few times but was always in the company of another woman — his son’s mother. She became heavily involved in drugs and had no problem associating with drug dealers and other members of the organized crime scene. She was married for a time, and then her husband became incarcerated; before this she had been what you called a “home wrecker” and she express shame and sadness about this. One of the most devastating aspects of her life was the sexual aspect. Not only was she involved with several men over the years, but also she was even a rape victim and a victim of incest. While her husband Eugene was in jail, she moved in and fell in love with a man named Lonnie. Though Lonnie was there for her through many crises, she discovered that he was a cocaine addict, and eventually he was sent to prison as well. There is heartbreaking information about her daughter’s life, and the loss of her elder brother. Through it all however, she thank God for his watching over her and for his presence of her happy, healthy parents, who are still a part of her life.
