About the Book

This small book has attempted to put together some of the stories and scientific evidence Dr. Beischel uses as a lecturer and teacher. These stories have been created by Dr. Beischel from his vast experience as a parent and psychologist and none of them are factual, but will appear to be, as any good story must. Many parents, teachers and therapists get very frustrated working with insecurely attached individuals. This book has been written to fill the gap of information on the insecurely child and adult from a researched based and practical point of view.

About the Author

Dr. Beischel is from a large Midwest family, the eighth of nine children. He holds a doctorate in psychology from Indiana University, studying on a fellowship at the Institute of Child Study in Bloomington. He also holds a Master’s degree in School Counseling and undergraduate degrees in philosophy and theology. He has a varied employment history as a high school teacher and counselor, Nebraska State Penitentiary psychologist, psychiatric hospital psychologist , and private practice psychologist specializing in neglect and abuse with children and adults. With all of this Dr. Beischel believes that his best education on attachment came from being a foster and adoptive parent. For the past ten years Dr. Beischel has gone back to the classroom at Peru Stat College where he teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in psychology and education. He still sees a few patients from the past when they need him.
