About the Book

Billy’s Fishing Adventure is a heartwarming story about a boy with Spina Bifida. On one of his fishing trips with his grandpa, Billy encounters an injured turtle and ends up saving the turtle’s life. This fascinating book describes Billy’s adventure that not only takes the reader’s mind away from Billy’s disabilities, but also proves that Billy can have an adventurous life like any other child. Billy’s passion for the little injured turtle is obvious and even though Billy has Spina bifida, he is not allowing it to become a restriction for him to save the life of the animal.

Billy’s love for animals and his positive outlook on life inspires many. In this story Billy is accepting of his condition. By helping the turtle, children will see that despite the fact that Billy is confined to the gear and braces on his legs, he is a conqueror and his disability is a way to help others.

This book teaches the reader that special need children can live life to their fullest once they are allowed to move beyond their disability.
