About the Book
This book describes my life from the age of five years until today. I always believed in God, and my mom taught us to pray every day. As time began to pass from my childhood into adulthood, I was able to see a small light at the end of the tunnel. Because of my dirt-poor childhood, I wasn’t able to attend a college although I received a scholarship. Today, I’m not only maintaining a 3.28 grade-point average at Miami Dade College and studying to become an addiction therapist, I’m also preaching at the most wonderful and loving church in Miami, Florida.
About the Author
There were nine of us kids at home. My mom was a single parent for the most part. We all managed to stick together because we were always talked about and ridiculed by other kids nearly every day. My grandmother would always tell my mom that I would be the one to make her proud and more likely to succeed in life. I have hurt a lot of people during my drug-abuse career, including my mom. Today, I am sure she is looking down from heaven, smiling because I am now giving back and I am free from the bondage of self. —Windell Kelley
