About the Book

Getting Out of Here Alive is a daring attempt to make sense of this puzzling world where nothing lasts. On the surface it is an “Indiana Jones” type quest for the Holy Grail, only in this case it is the non-fictional adventures of two middle-aged women who suddenly plunge into the ancient mysteries of shamanism in modern day Peru.

Seeking meaningful answers to some age old questions, they are in turn, relentlessly pursued by the Eternal Trickster who jokes them out of their old perceptions, showing them this world is not left by death, but by a gentle path that leads to Life.

About the Author

Emily LeVier is the Chaplain of a New Jersey In patient Unit for a large national Hospice. She is the co-founder of two bereavement centers and has been working with terminal patients and their families for over 20 years. Debby Roth is the author of Stepping Stones to Grief Recovery (IBS Press) and Eat These Words (Harper Collins). She was Psychology Editor for Woman’s World and Contributing Editor for New Jersey Monthly. Her main focus now is Practical Mysticism. Co-authors of Being Human in the Face of Death (IBS Press), both authors are Interfaith Ministers and compile Workman Publishing’s best selling Bible Calendar.
