About the Book

This is an account of what happened before Northern Yuma County seceded and re-emerged in 1983 as La Paz County. It tells of life in the “past lane” in a time fading from memory. So, hopefully some of what the desert rats did and said will live on in these pages, and the reader will learn of the struggle they had in this harsh land—and what they did to survive.

You take Exit 31 to follow Highway 60 through the Renegras Plain, and pass through Brenda, Hope, Vicksburg Junction, Salome, and Wenden.
