About the Author

Ernest Kevin Mar, M.D. is a graduate from the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Program at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, New York. He holds a Certificate in Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine from the American College of Acupuncture, New York and is a graduated Associate Fellow from the University of Arizona, College of Medicine Program In Integrative Medicine. Born with Cerebral Palsy, he has been exposed to different Integrative Medicine treatments since the age of one. Because of this exposure, his function has dramatically improved. Today, his disability is hardly even noticeable. During his growing up years, Alternative Medicine now know as Integrative Medicine was not acceptable by the Traditional Western Medicine practitioners, making it an uphill battle for his parents. As a result of these experiences, he felt that there is a need for simple explanations for children and their parents to understand: “What is Integrative Medicine?” This book was written with this purpose in mind. As Integrative Medicine is becoming more acceptable, children may see the adults practicing some of the different modalities and ask for an explanation. This book will aid in that task. Irene M. Der holds a B.A. in Fine Arts from Barry University, Miami, Florida. One of her works, titled; “Light of Man” embraces some of the dormitory rooms of the university. Her creative, unique freelance works includes both commercial and home decorative arts. Audrey M. Mar attended St. Elizabeth College, Morristown, New Jersey pursuing a pre-medical course of study. She is an Energy Healer of various modalities, one of which is a Master Level Reiki Healer.
