About the Book

“The Auction” is the second of three in the Five Cousin Series. The story is about five cousins that attend an auction to try to pick up an old treasure. They accidentally win the bid on a painting of John Hancock when the main character Matt was really just trying to swat at a moth that was flying circles around his cousin Julie. They later discover that the real treasure is hidden behind the painting (The Declaration of Independence). They make arrangements to return the document and get to meet the President of the United States who awards them each with the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Although fictional, “The Auction” includes some historical tidbits that leave the reader intrigued and proud. The story entertains you and the detailed illustrations by Artist Dale Devendorf make it seem very believable. Also enjoy “The Silver Ladder” published in 2006 and soon to be published: “Time Squared” to complete the Five Cousins Series.

About the Author

Teacher and Author Robert Preston from Syracuse, New York continues to share his original stories that he has told to his son Matthew since birth. “Matthew insisted on an original story every night as it gradually became the highlight of his bedtime routine. I found myself thinking about new stories on a daily basis. After several months he would recall stories in detail that were only told to him once. When I heard the stories back from him, I knew we had something special that needed to be shared.”
