About the Author
Fred T. Baker was born in 1928 in Yakima, Washington, just months before the start of The Great Depression. As the fourth of six children raised through those hard times, Fred learned to create and pursue his own entertainment and interests. He was encouraged to read at an early age, enjoying simple rhymes and riddles, which he soon began composing on his own. While attending grade school and an all-boys Catholic high school, he developed a powerful interest in books and writing which has remained with him throughout his life. Fred served in the military and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from the University of Washington. He worked for over twenty years in the newspaper business, including several management positions, while raising four children with his wife, Alice. He later owned and managed his own advertising agency until his retirement. Fred served in the military and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism from the University of Washington.
