About the Author

Hazel G. Chapman, a native of Cleveland, Ohio, and the youngest of seven children, where she learned to be strong and determined. Before the age of fifteen she had studied dance, performed song and dance routines, sang gospel and done a little acting. She also became socially conscious of her surroundings in the late 50's and early 60's. At age sixteen she left a dysfunctional household and high school to start a career in the performing arts, instead she found herself married, by nineteen she had a husband and two children, and at age twenty they had purchased a home and she found that she was almost isolated from the rest of the world, in her children and her writing was where she found refuge. At the age of twenty-three, after surviving an abusive marriage she was divorced, working to support her family and attending school part-time finishing high school and going on to attend college. Hazel is a singer, doing concerts and also working with other famous entertainers, a songwriter, poet and author. She wrote a newspaper column for a time and presently has a local television talk show, while still singing and doing performance poetry. During and after her marriage she became one of the first female professional football players in the U.S. retired, and also retired from her job of almost 30 years, and is now finally able to embrace her love of the Arts fully.
