About the Book

This book is mainly to show families that there is always hope, even if you don't have the support of all your family members - you can still do it alone. Never give up and never let anyone steer you in another direction. It might be hard, but it is definitely worth the struggle. Here I tell the story of my mother and sister and their struggles. I'm sure there are countless others in nursing homes with struggles of their own that no one will hear or know about or that they wish to tell. It is my hope that this book will serve as a guide for families caring for loved ones to be aware of the reality of the world we live in. In an ideal world, all families would unite as one when it came to caring for their loved ones.

About the Author

Joe Ryans was born in Asheville, North Carolina. He never thought in a million years he would write a book after working in a nursing home for just about all of his life. He was inspired when both his sister and mother ended up in a nursing home and felt like he needed to share his story instead of holding it inside. He is confident that he is not the only one going through these problems. His hope is that others will enjoy the book as much as he has enjoyed writing it. Joe believes that no matter what, you will find out who your friends are during a crisis. His philosophy is that we must believe in ourselves—the truth will always set us free because silence gets you nowhere.
