About the Book

Can you remember the first time you ever smelled bacon sizzling from the kitchen? Or asked your mother about the ‘olden days’ and been relieved that she didn’t actually have to eat her porridge from a wooden bowl? In this fourth collection of Constance Daley’s unique insights into life, we find ourselves reflecting on life and wondering how it all happened so quickly. But don’t for one moment imagine that this book is a sandwich of sentimentality. There is the contrast between why Bob Hope was wearing a girdle and the abdication of the King of England. And then again you can read about bootleg booze and bathtub gin followed by columns on special effects and the cold cases of the century. Even those daily events that we find mundane, or don’t even notice at all, make Constance Daley’s pen fly into a flurry of witty and humorous observations, unexpected parallels with childhood events, and pithy comments on current affairs. You'll read casual observations on intense topics. Dip into this book when life feels too hard to cope with, and you’ll be lifted by a bunch of bright and beautiful balloons.

About the Author

Constance Daley, originally a New Yorker, now lives on St. Simons Island, Georgia, where, amongst other things, she is a regular columnist for The American Reporter producing the ever popular column "Hominy & Hash." Her articles appear in Weekend, the newspaper of choice in the Golden Isles, and, as a lifelong diarist, Mrs. Daley frequently teaches classes in Journaling along with Releasing your Creativity. Now that the Daleys have tucked their seven children into lives of their own, they’re free to do as they please … which is exactly what they had in mind all along.
